Welcome to the Brighton & Hove Federation for Disabled People Website and City Guide
The Federation of Disabled People was established in 1981 promoting the independence and dignity of disabled people, ensuring when services were being planned and developed, disabled peoples views were heard.
The Federation is a user-led organisation, and the social model of disability underpins all of its operational and strategic work today and it takes a positive approach to the removal of barriers.
The organisation provides direct support and advice to over 7000 people a year through its projects. Its representation and development work has benefited and had impact on a much wider group of disabled people, carers and service providers across Brighton and Hove.
This new website and City Guide are exciting new projects, whereby we can raise awareness of the disability issues locally and communicate with the wider community. We will be adding to the City Guide as we continue to review venues and attractions across Brighton and Hove and aim to make this a one-stop-shop for both disabled residents and visitors to the area. Our talented team of disabled representatives are out there as you read, collecting information to make your stay/day out/night out a more pleasurable experience.
The membership of the Federation is open to individuals as well as disability organisations living and working in Brighton and Hove. If you would like to join us, please download the membership pack on the Membership Directory page or contact us for one to be sent to you.
