Welcome to the Accessible City Guide
The Accessible City Guide is the Federation's online guide to what's accessible in the city. We feature everything from hotels, restaurants, bars and cafes to parks and public buildings. Reviews are conducted by our city guide volunteers, and feature information on a wide range of access issues including physical access, lighting and noise.
Please note that our reviews are intended as a guide only and are places that our volunteers like to visit - they don't imply any recommendation. We also suggest for more detailed or specific information, that you contact the venue direct to ensure it meets your needs.
We work in conjunction with Brighton & Hove Council and lots more general tourist information can be found on:
Please use the drop down menu to access the reviews, or view an A-Z list of reviews here. Alternatively you can use the interactive map below:

Accessible Parking
Brighton and Hove City Council have recently published a list of all blue badge parking spaces in the city, which can be downloaded here. We are currently working with the council to convert this into a map as well.
Please note that all spaces can be used by anyone displaying a blue badge. However, in residential areas disabled people often depend on these spaces to access their homes so please be considerate to others when parking.

Accessible Toilets
We're often asked about accessible public toilets in Brighton & Hove. Whilst Accessible City Guide has not yet reviewed these, there is regularly updated information on the Brighton & Hove Council website on accessible toilets, facilities, opening times and temporary closures etc. Please visit the toilets page on the Brighton & Hove Council website here.
Please note that a Changing Places toilet opened on 2 October 2009 at The Colonade, Madeira Drive, BN2 1EN. Changing Places toilets are different to standard disabled toilets offering more space and extra features including a height adjustable adult-sized changing bench and hoist. For further information on changing places toilets please visit the campaign's website

Join our team!
The Accessible City Guide is always looking for new volunteer reviewers to join our team. Volunteers will receive full induction and training from our Accessible City Guide project lead, Jon Hastie, and can review at their convenience, either individually or as a pair.
Volunteering with the guide is a great way to make a difference, without necessarily requiring a huge commitment on your part. We also meet up regularly to discuss the guide, so it's a good opportunity to meet other people as well.
For more information on volunteering at the Federation and to find out how to apply, please visit our volunteering page here.

Fire Safety Information
The Accessible City Guide team recently met with the East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service to learn about appropriate evacuation procedures for wheelchair users and other disabled people in the event of an emergency. This information will now be used to inform the reviewing process and to help identify potential problems. It is important to note that this cannot replace a formal safety assessment which is what we recommend for all venues
You can find out more about fire safety in the following government publications:
HMGovernment: Means of Escape for Disabled People
HMGovernment: Small and Medium Places of Assembly
