    BN1 4EB

  • Phone: 01273 749494
  • Getting There / Parking: The Museum is underneath the Railway Station, set into the arches, about 50 yards down Trafalgar Street on the left. Trafalgar street is quite steep and traffic can be busy at rush hour.

There is no designated parking. Parking in train station or side street nearby a possibility.

Improvements to Trafalgar St bridge were taking place at the time of writing. The initiative includes pavement widening, relighting, cleaning and better signage.

  • Getting In: The main entrance is accessed on the main street through two inward opening doors.
  • Getting Around / Facilities: The museum is designed on two levels. The main reception desk, shop and accessible toilets are all on the entrance level.

Access to the upper level is via a roller shutter type door and down a ramp. The customer will have to ask at main reception for the door to be opened.

The upper area is spacious and well set out with plenty of space between display cabinets for wheelchair users. The floor has two gentle slopes at each end of this level to reach sub-levels.

Some of the main moving train displays were quite high and so wheelchair users and smaller children/people may not have a good view. The puppet display at the back of the museum has three steps up at the entrance.

  • Additional Comments: The shop sells souvenirs, books and postcards as well as a range of collectors' toys.

The staff were warm and helpful.
