Half a mile from Hove train station.

  • Getting In: No signs on road to pedestrian entrance (but there are for vehicles)

Level access from car park to adjacent main entrance

No push-button door opening, but staff generally available. One of double doors wide enough for most wheelchairs.

Induction loop at Reception. Clear signage at Reception.

  • Getting Around / Facilities: Very spacious, but may get crowded. Furniture generally movable. Bars, betting shop etc. at lowish if not wheelchair height. Only ramps out onto racetrack viewing terraces. Elevator lift will just take a powered wheelchair user + 1 person standing. 2 Evac chairs on 1st floor for fire evacuation.

The restaurant tables and chairs are positioned on tiers overlooking the racecourse, with only the top level accessible to wheelchair users.

Visual & noise environment: Some dimly-lit areas (restaurant/bar); natural light to one side only. Clear signage. May get noisy when crowded.

Menus/ information sheets: Good contrast on menu. Staff available to read through. Race cards could be enlarged on request. Mid-blue background to general leaflet “Thrilling Entertainment” harder to read.

Toilets: Standard size accessible unisex toilet on each floor. [Gents on ground floor is down steps.] the key for the accessible toilet on the first-floor is behind the betting shop desk.

  • Additional Comments: All staff appear willing to assist customers with a disability. Table service in the restaurant/ bar.
