Madeira, The - a Harvester Restaurant

The Harvester offers a wide variety of food and is centrally located just opposite the Palace Pier.  Although tricky to get in without assistance, once inside the restaurant is fairly accessible.

Access information:

  • Level access, but there is a slight lip on the door to get in
  • There is an accessible toilet
  • Address: 1 Madeira Drive Unit 1
    The Terraces
    Brighton
    BN2 1PS

  • Phone: 01273 696207
  • Web: www.harvester.co.uk
  • Opening Times: Monday-Saturday 11am-11pm
    Sunday 11am-10.30pm

Food served between 12 and 10pm.

  • Getting There / Parking: The restaurant is almost on the corner of Marine Parade and Madeira Drive, opposite The Palace Pier. It is on the Terraces, above the steps which go down to the Sealife Centre. Various buses stop almost outside and opposite. (There is a pedestrian crossing to get from the other side of the road)

The nearest car park is The Lanes, about 10-15 minutes away. There is pay and display parking on Marine Parade and Madeira Drive, and also some disabled bays on Madeira Drive.

  • Getting In: There is a good ramp up from Madeira Drive and a rather bumpy one coming down from Marine Parade. The main entrance has steps, but there is a disabled entrance at the far end of the building, opposite the sea. There used to be a bell but that has been removed. The management say that there are plans to improve this access. At the moment the door is left very slightly ajar, but you would need strong fingers and arms to get hold of it and pull it towards you – it is mainly used by people with push-chairs. It is difficult to attract attention to get help but if someone sees you they are happy to open the door. The doorway there has a bit of a metal lip making it slightly less easy, more so on leaving.
  • Getting Around / Facilities: The eating area is attractive, with lots of nooks and crannies but seems fairly easy to negotiate and get seated.

    There is an accessible toilet.

  • Additional Comments: There is a large print menu and a Braille menu. If you get there before 6.30pm you can have the cheaper earlybird menu.

The Harvester Restaurant serves a variety of foods, including a salad bar.
