Legends (Bar, Hotel & Club)

Legends (Bar, Hotel & Club)

Almost directly opposite the Palace Pier, this is an ideal place for some 'light refreshments' after a visit to the seafront.

Access information:

  • Wheelchair access via a lift at the side of the building
  • Most areas are accessible except for the club at the bottom of the building
  • There is an accessible toilet

  • Address: Legends
    31-34 Marine Parade
    Brighton
    BN2 1TR

  • Phone: 01273 624462
  • Web: www.legendsbrighton.com
  • Getting There / Parking: Situated on Marine Parade, this venue is easily reached by bus (the bus stop is about 30 yards away), taxis are able to pull up right outside and for those of you who enjoy a stroll, it's almost directly opposite the Palace Pier! An ideal place for some 'light refreshments' after a visit to the seafront.

This being Brighton, parking can be bit of a nightmare. Most of the surrounding roads are permit parking only (Zone C), although there are some pay & display bays two roads away on the left.

  • Getting In: On first impressions, this venue doesn't shout 'accessible', as there are around 8 steps leading up to the main door. There is however a lift to the side of the building for wheelchair and scooter access
  • Getting Around / Facilities: Once inside the bar itself, it's as flat as a pancake! It's a large, open plan venue with seating areas around the edges, in the conservatory type window areas and of course on the sun terrace, (a god send for the smokers amongst us!).

The only area of this fantastic venue which can't be accessed by wheelchair users is the club below the main bar area. The club is surprisingly large and has plenty of seating and also a separate bar so you don't have to keep running up to the main bar area.

Just to the right hand side of the bar, there is an accessible toilet and also unisex toilets - the only gripe I really have with the toilets is the fact that the water that runs from the automated taps is scalding hot! You have been warned!

There are ramps and disabled toilets.

  • Accommodation / Rooms: If you're staying in the hotel, there are lifts to each floor and the management assure me there are rooms/bathing facilities for wheelchair users, although I haven't seen them myself.
  • Additional Comments: What can I say, this venue is fantastic! It's bright, breezy, funky, friendly and has stunning views of the Pier and sea from the sun terrace. The bar staff are amazingly friendly and it's the sort of venue you could go to alone and leave with a whole new bunch of friends. It attracts all sorts, although primarily a gay/lesbian venue it's very welcoming to all visitors although they have a strict 'no hen or stag parties' policy.

Legends hold cabaret days and evenings where you can see scene favourite Dave Lynn and friends. (You really haven't lived until you experience the drag cabaret at Legends!). The bar is open from 11am-5am, so if partying through the night is your thing then this is definitely a venue for you. The door staff are also incredibly vigilant and do a wonderful job of keeping out the drunks and trouble makers, which make this just about the most friendly, trouble free venue on the scene today.

If you're a foodie, they also have a great chef who serves food from 12pm until 6pm Monday to Saturday, a full menu can be viewed on the website. I really can't sing the praises of this venue enough! Get yourself down there for a drink and I'll see you there!
