Marlborough, The

The Marlborough has long been a favourite amongst the lesbian community, with it's fabulous location, pool table (they seem to be dying out don't they?!) and amazing open mic nights with the fabulous Andrea Kenny, it's difficult not to love

Access information:

  • There are two steps to get in
  • There is no accessible toilet

  • Address: The Marlborough
    4 Princes Street
    Brighton
    BN2 1RD.

  • Phone: 01273 570028
  • Web: www.the-marlborough.co.uk
  • Getting There / Parking: Situated pretty much opposite the Pavilion, this fantastic pub is easilly reached by bus or cab, there is no parking outside, but you may be lucky enough to secure one of the few disabled bays further up the road on the Old Steine.
  • Getting In: There are two steps leading up to the doorway of the pub, there are grabrails provided but it would be extremely difficult to get a wheelchair in unless you have monster truck tyres fitted!
  • Getting Around / Facilities: The Marlborough has two main bar areas, to the left, is a lounge type bar with comfortable seating and plenty of tables. It tends to be the more mellow of the two drinking areas! To the right, is the more boisterous and loud bar, usually crammed full of people enjoying a drink and a game of pool.

The Marlborough is also home to the little theatre, which unfortunately is not accessible at all to wheelchairs or scooters due to being up a steep flight of stairs. As far as toilets go, there is no advertised accessible toilet, although there are large cubicles situated within both the ladies & the gents.

They have a disabled door access positioned around the side of the pub, no access for disabled people to get up to the theater.

  • Additional Comments: The Marlborough has long been a favourite amongst the lesbian community, with it's fabulous location, pool table (they seem to be dying out don't they?!) and amazing open mic nights with the fabulous Andrea Kenny, it's difficult not to love. It's probably not a pub for you though if you're not a dog lover, dogs are more than welcome and you'll usually be greeted by the resident dog 'Bear' and his friends. The Marly also serves up fabulous and reasonable priced sunday roasts, perfect for curing the Sunday hangover!. Although probably not what you'd call an amazingly accessible pub for wheelchair users, they are always more than willing to help in any way possible. I called ahead when I visited with a couple of my blind friends and they were more than happy to reserve tables for us to make our visit more comfortable and enjoyable. I whole heartedly recommend this pub!
