Getting There / Parking:Situated in Kemptown, just off of St James's street
Being a typical Brighton pub, there is no parking nearby! Although this fab pub is two minutes from the bus stop at the bottom of St James's street and there are double yellow lines where you will be able to park for up to three hours with a blue badge.
Getting In:This pub does have a step up at the entrance, although the manager, Maria tells me that she is going to be getting a ramp soon to make access easier for wheelchair users. I was told that staff are happy to help people using a manual wheelchair up the step, but at present, it would not be possible to gain entrance if you are using a powered wheelchair or scooter.
Getting Around / Facilities:Once inside, the pub is large, light and airy, with low level tables.
Although there is no actual designated accessible toilet, the toilet on ground level is fairly large, although it would be a tight squeeze to get a wheelchair in there. The menu's are in a fairly large print already, with no braille option available, but the staff are more than happy to read the menu aloud or help in any way they can. The food is traditional pub grub with baguettes, sausage and mash etc. There is also level access to the smoking patio outside. The manager has undertaken DDA training, along with visual impairment awareness training and is working to ensure the pub is more accessible.
Additional Comments:A fantastically friendly pub in Kemptown, the staff are amazing and once the ramp is in place at the door, it will be pretty much accessible. Watch this space!
