  • Getting There / Parking: Located at the peak of a steep hill on Edward Street, The Brighton Youth Centre is served by the 7, 81, 2 & 1 bus services, with a stop just opposite. Take care in crossing the road, unless you would prefer using the Pelican crossings situated 50m away from the stop.

The train station is quite a distance away, a 20-30 minute walk, but the number 7 stops outside the station to take you to the centre.

The centre is lucky to have its own car park, but its use needs to be requested so please ring in advance. It is situated around the back of the building, where the wheelchair accessible entrance is conveniently situated.

  • Getting In: The front entrance and Main reception is unfortunately not wheelchair accessible, as there are two sets of small steps on the entrance to the building, and down again to the ground floor. However staff are more than happy to come out to help you with any requirements if you call before arrival.

There is another wheelchair accessible entrance at the Southern side of the building which allows you access to the main sports hall on the Ground floor.

The accessible entrance has a slightly sloped entrance. The doors however only open inwards so assistance may be required, although this is currently being reviewed so push buttons may be installed at a later date.

  • Getting Around / Facilities: Once inside, there is a wheelchair platform-lift to take you between the Ground and 2nd floors.

There are 3 Floors to the building, but only the Ground and 2nd Floors are fully wheelchair accessible as there isn't a lift in the building.

Fortunately the majority of the largest facilities are located on these floors, 6 rooms available in all. As it is a youth centre, the power switch for the wheelchair platform-lift is located in the main reception, so please let the staff know if you require its use.

    Facilities
There is an Accessible unisex toilet on the ground floor, and two unisex accessible toilets on the second floor

The building has had a hearing loop installed, but it has not been in use for some time, so please confirm if you would like to use this facility.
