  • There is no accessible toilet

  • Venue Description: St.Andrews is a deconsecrated church that is now used as a performance venue.
  • Address: Waterloo Street
    Hove
    BN3 1AQ

  • Web: www.visitstandrews.org
  • Opening Times: St. Andrews is open on Sundays from 2 - 4pm for anyone to look round.
  • Getting There / Parking: St Andrews is near the south end of Waterloo Street, which runs between Western Road and Kingsway, close to the Peace Statue. There are a lot of bus routes along Western Road.

The nearest car park is an NCP one at the bottom of Regency Square, and there is a private (cheaper) one in Preston Street, next to the Royal Sovereign pub. There are a few disabled parking bays in the area, or with a blue badge it is possible find parking places on single and double yellow lines, where you can park for 3 hours, but avoid residents parking bays. The sea front also has disabled bays.

  • Getting In: The church has a couple of steps, but a ramp can be brought. It is hoped to install a bell to attract attention, but at the moment, if there is no-one around outside, the people in the Iron Duke pub opposite are very helpful and will get someone for you. Once up the steps it is easy to get in.
  • Getting Around / Facilities: The interior has long pews which fill most of the space, but there are about 4 places at the rear designated for wheelchairs.

    There is a hearing loop.

Toilet arrangements are complicated! The venue has an agreement with the Iron Duke pub opposite for people to use their loos. Even with help it is impossible to get to them in a powered wheelchair or scooter, but a manual wheelchair should do it - the narrowest area (where a big pipe sticks out into the passage way) is 25" wide. On the seafront the nearby Meeting Place Cafe has an accessible (if small) toilet which is open whenever the cafe is. You might have to pay 20p. If all else fails, a wheelchair using resident who lives nearby kindly lets people who use wheelchairs use her toilet - ask at the venue if this will be possible.
