  • Getting There / Parking: The Brighton and Hove Reform Synagogue is on the corner of Palmeira Avenue and Eaton Road. The Ajex Hall is in the basement and the entrance is in Eaton Road. There are buses stopping at Palmeira Square, at the bottom of Palmeira Avenue, and also at the top end, on Cromwell Road.

There are disabled parking bays nearby on Eaton Road and Palmeira Avenue.

  • Getting In: SYNAGOGUE
There are steps up to the Synagogue, but there is a ramp (which I was very impressed by) which enables you to get to the entrance. Lee, the helpful caretaker is always there when the building is open. There are existing members of the community with disabilities, and anyone new who will need help can ring before attending.

    THE AJEX HALL
The entrance to the Ajex Hall is in Eaton Road. It is below the Synagogue and is reached by a ramp. Double doors open inwards, and although there is a raise of about 1 inch, the caretaker is always on hand to help if needed. A shallow wooden ramp then leads down into the hall.

  • Getting Around / Facilities: SYNAGOGUE
Once inside, as well as stairs, there is a lift (very small, I'm not sure if it would take a mobility scooter) to the next floor where the Synagogue is. Dedicated in 1967, it is a lovely space with very striking stained glass windows. There is space for wheelchairs at the rear.

There is an accessible toilet in the basement of the building which can be reached by the lift.

There is a manual wheelchair available.

    THE AJEX HALL
The hall has a stage, and separate chairs which can be arranged in various ways. There is an accessible toilet.

  • Additional Comments: The Ajex Centre is available to hire, both to members of the Synagogue, and to non members. The Sacred Music Festival will be having an event there in October 2009. Classrooms are also hired out to language schools etc.
