The bikes are back!

Bike week is back! The council are running this event from the 19th to the 27th of June. You can enjoy a number of bike related activities, including:

  • Free Bike Breakfasts with live music
  • Bicycle Alley at Preston Park
  • Bike Doctors
  • Changing Gear photo studio and exhibition
  • Film screening
  • Outdoor static cycling classes

Free Bike Breakfasts
Our free bike breakfasts are back, served with a slice of live music from Melting Vinyl, plus free Bike Doctors.

 

Tues 22 June
7.30-10am, Loving Hut Café, St Peter’s Place, near the Level

Live music from Curly Hair, instantly melodic, playful pop.

Thurs 24 June
7.00-10am, Brighton station (drop off point at the east entrance of the station near Platform 8)

Our first bike breakfast at Brighton station. Whether you cycle to the station or take your bike on the train, don’t miss out on a coffee and croissant before you leave!
Live music from Mr Strachan & Miss Colvert playing accordion and cornet, marrying a majestic melody à la 1930’s Paris.


Fri 25 June
7.30-10am, Meeting Place Café, Hove seafront near Peace Statue

Live music from Tudo Bem! Brazilian singer and percussion, sounds from Bossa Nova to Samba-Funk dance.

Other Free Events

Sat 19 June
12-5pm, Bicycle Alley, Preston Park (part of TakePart)

Games, skills and lots of fun on bikes including the slow bike race, bike limbo and lots more. Put your cycling skills to the test or try out a bike if you haven’t cycled for a while! Some bikes will be provided, or bring your own and visit our free bike doctor. Suitable for adults and children and for all abilities.



Also, FREE to disabled people - All Ability cycles available as part of the City’s Bike Week – Saturday 19th June, Bicycle Alley, Preston Park.  These bikes are suitable for people of all ages and all abilities – disabled children and adults including wheelchair users – single seaters with/without stabilisers – 2-person bikes with non-disabled person sitting either behind or next to a disabled person.  Something in the region of a dozen different types of all-ability cycle.  If you want further information on this event go to  http://www.allabilitycycling.com/

 

Wed 23 June
6-7.15pm, Open air spinning classes

Take a spin on the bandstand! (Taster sessions 10-15 mins drop in)
Free spinning sessions outdoors. All welcome (min age 16) first come first served. Wear appropriate clothing.
