How much does it Cost?

As a result of recent Government changes to the Vetting and Barring Scheme (VBS), the cost of an Enhanced CRB check will increase by £8 from 6 April 2011. All other fees will remain unchanged.

From 6 April 2011, the following fee levels will apply throughout the remainder of 2011/12

Enhanced CRB check £44.00

Standard CRB check £26.00

CRB Checks for volunteers will continue to be free of charge.

In addition to the CRB fees we make an administration charge to cover our costs of £20. However rates are negotiable for block bookings.

How can the Brighton and Hove Federation of Disabled People help me to get a CRB check?

The Brighton and Hove Federation of Disabled People (FED) is a registered body with the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) on the basis that it will countersign applications on behalf of others who are not registered. The FED will accept applications from organisations who do not wish to register in their own right, employers within the Direct Payments Support Service and Individuals.

What is a CRB check?

A CRB check is simply a process which enables employers to check if a potential employee/volunteer has a criminal record. The information is provided by the Criminal Records Bureau, which is a government agency that can disclose police records for eligible jobs and volunteer posts.

Why might I want to ask for a CRB check to be carried out?

Employers can use the information to make safer recruitment decisions by identifying candidates who may be unsuitable for certain work, especially work involving children or adults who may be classed as vulnerable. The CRB check can complement other vetting processes you use such as interviews and reference checking.
