AskSARA is a self-assessment tool that provides information about daily living equipment and adaptations for those who feel able to afford to buy it themselves. To get this information, click on the link above and follow the prompts to the page that is relevant to you. SARA will ask questions about yourself and your environment in order to offer ideas and useful hints and tips about ways to make your life easier, details of products that could help you, and details of where you can obtain them.
Amaze gives information, advice and support to parents of children with special needs and disabilities in Brighton and Hove. They have a regular helpline (01273 772289) and offer practical support with education issues, claims for disability living allowance and the transition to adult services. Amaze also run regular courses and workshops and manage the Compass database and leisure card, which gives disabled children discounts at leisure outlets in and around Brighton.
Amaze produces a range of publications for parents of children with special needs including a regular newsletter, two handbooks and fact sheets with specific advice on subjects like choosing a school, getting a break and handling tricky meetings. Brighton and Hove City Council
The Council's website provides information on local public services and democracy, e.g. applying for a blue badge or disabled parking bay, social services, housing, education, etc.

Department for Work and Pensions
Department for Work and Pensions is responsible for a range of benefits and services for people who are sick or have a disability. The Disability and Carers Service supports disabled people and their carers, whether or not they are able to work. The directorate is responsible for providing an efficient, reliable and considerate system of Disability Benefits, and for all disability civil rights issues. DisabledTravelAdvice was formed to offer a unique reference point on extensive advice on travel for disabled people. For the traveller who is disabled travelling anywhere can sometimes be a frustrating experience.The website was set up to help travellers with a disability access services which should make their experience of travelling much more pleasant. Topics covered include travelling by air, sea and rail. Also included is advice on such things as buying a car and its adaptation to your individual needs. East Sussex Disability Association (ESDA)
The East Sussex Disability Association (ESDA) exists to help all disabled people in East Sussex achieve independence and control over their lives. ESDA provides a wide range of services and support, either from the head office in Eastbourne or via the local groups across the county. Equal Sign strives to make important sign language resources as widely available as possible for the Deaf community. With this in mind they teamed up with Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue to produce an online fire safety information brochure in BSL. This information can be accessed by using the link above.

The Sussex Business Guide to Disability
The Sussex Business Guide to Disability is aimed at people who run small or medium sized businesses and focuses on what businesses need to know about employing disabled people, and the Disability Discrimination Act (the DDA). The guide provides examples of how easy it is to make changes in line with the DDA – changes that also have wider business benefits. The guide also includes a detailed fact-sheet section. The Sussex Business Guide to Disability was produced by Disability Equals Business.

"Working to support and empower disabled people in West Sussex" WSAD has been providing information, advice and services to disabled people for over 60 years through a small staff, backed by many volunteers and members.
